For the initial expansion of their New York City HQ  in Times Square, our client wanted to draw on the  vibrant energy of the urban context, while also  using the medium of colour to sensitively respond  to worker needs and behaviours. Inspired by

the concept of a prism, we designed a dynamic,  colourful workplace for its 500 employees.

Knowing colour affects our behaviour,  perception, performance and wellbeing, we  developed a colour journey. We carefully selected  the spectrum of colour best suited for each of the  different environments in the space.

Upon arriving, visitors encounter a dichroic glass  film leading into reception, hub and connected  game room. A saturated, warmer toned palette,  mixed with playful stone and tile patterns, defines  the more activated, higher energy zones. We  offset the vibrancy of these higher energy points  with a more subdued, cooler-toned palette to  encourage focused, heads down work.

The central hub functions as a café and all-hands  space for hosting large gatherings. Locating the  hub along the full west perimeter of the building  maximises sweeping views of Times Square.
